Amigo Loans FAQs

Does Amigo Loans do credit checks on borrowers and guarantors?

Yes, Amigo Loans will run a credit check both for borrowers and guarantors. Borrowers’ credit history will be checked upon application and they will also need to fill out a budget plan. Borrowers with bad credit scores will still be considered as long as they can justify that they can repay Amigo through the budget plan.

For guarantors, a soft credit will also be carried out. This is to ensure they have a good history of paying their bills consistently and on time. This will be done only after the guarantor signed their Credit Agreement.

Who can be my guarantor?

Your guarantor can be a family member or friend who’s capable and willing to back you up and take the responsibility of paying the loan should you not be able to. They should also have a good credit history as the approval of your loan can depend on it.

For Amigo loans, guarantors must also be only residing in the UK (that’s England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland).

How can I apply for an Amigo guarantor loan?

If you are a borrower, you can simply apply via the Amigo Loans website. You’ll receive a credit agreement which you’ll need to sign. Afterward, you can let your guarantor fill out their part of the application next. Alternatively, you can send them a link to the application.

Amigo Loans will reach out to your guarantor to confirm the details of the loan. Once done, Amigo will complete their final checks and you’ll receive an SMS once the loan is paid out. It will first be deposited to the guarantor’s bank account. They will then need to transfer the sum to the borrower.

Can the borrower fill out the guarantor’s part of the application?

The quick answer is no. Amigo Loans will need to ensure that your guarantor fully agrees on the terms and conditions of your loan, hence they need to fill out the application themselves, and submit additional documents if necessary.
